Not my blotting tissues

Tim Moore began working as an assistant to painter Del Kathryn Barton at the beginning of 2009. He soon noticed the aesthetic charm of the discarded tissues she used to blot the sodden watercolours on her canvases, and decided to begin collecting them. Despite being executed by pure chance and often salvaged from the rubbish bin, the torn, crumpled, and smudged blotting tissues reveal a surprising sense of gestural intent. In presenting 95 of them here, meticulously photographed and in book form, a sensitivity for timeless abstract expressive compositions emerges, an example of the ordinary made extraordinary.
