Pride's Remedy: A Pride & Prejudice Variation
by Erin Butler
Mr. Darcy was an intolerably proud gentleman, or was he?
Elizabeth Bennet happens upon Mr. Darcy outside the Meryton assembly. Her medicinal instincts kick in when she notices that Mr. Darcy is injured. She offers the gentleman her aid, but he declines. However, headstrong Elizabeth will not let the matter go. She inquires after his health again at Lucas Lodge and finds that he is not the proud man that all of Meryton assumes he is.
It is not until Jane falls sick at Netherfield that Elizabeth has a chance to see him again. She is determined to help her sister and therefore, brings her entire medicine cabinet filled with plants and spices to cure illness. Once there, Elizabeth is caught up in curing her sister, and enjoying the delightful conversations with Mr. Darcy.
When Mrs. Bennet visits, will Mr. Darcy's love prove true? Or will the want of propriety of Elizabeth's relations deter him from taking her as his wife?
This Pride and Prejudice retelling is a sweet romance and can be read by all ages.
