The Great Dire Wolf (Tales from the Land of Nod)
by Samuel R. Barrera
It is said that many ages ago the council chose a single werewolf to form a pack of one. Akela, the great lone wolf. It is also said that the village was in uproar, for you see, the purpose of the new pack is as a rite of passage into adulthood, called the Great Hunt. The prey was the dreaded dromaeraptor, called runners by the wolves. Hunting a dromaeraptor was a daunting task for any larger pack, much more so for a pack of one.
Perhaps it is no surprise then that Akela, the great lone wolf, was now the Huetlatoani, the warrior king of all werewolves.
But Sköll was no king. And luckily, he was also not alone.
