About
This collection of poems contains translations from different Romanian writers such as Mihai Eminescu, George Co buc, Octavian Goga, Ion Minulescu, Tudor Arghezi, Al. O. Teodoreanu, Lucian Blaga and Nicolae Labi . It is intended to give an overview of the vast and varied Romanian poetical tradition, including its many literary styles and diverse contributors. As such, it is meant to spark the interest of the reader and make the general public more aware of a great, but very little known, literary tradition. Also, Robert Frost s observation that: "poetry is what gets lost in translation," is a point well taken. Vasile Munteanu earned a B.A. and an M.A. degree in English from Oakland University in Michigan and a Ph.D. in Philosophy, Interpretation and Culture from State University of New York at Binghamton. He has been teaching Literature and Philosophy atthe College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas. He is also the author of Godmaker, The Book of Aloneness, The Book of Remembrance and Chandala."
