About
A Jungian fairytale for children and adults. It is Princess Sally's eighth birthday in a magic kingdom where the birthday child gives a gift to her parents. Sally is choosing from several possible creative gifts when the Devil, disguised as a holy monk, offers her a diamond into which he has put all his power. Sally's instincts tell her to refuse, but she is fascinated by the diamond, and soon her beloved parents, the King and Queen, are under its spell and the kingdom falling into ruins. This is a story of family love, and of the valiant quest of a child to find help for her enchanted parents despite well-meaning adult advice. She finds a friend and guide in the blind shepherd boy Heron, and there's a climax in which everyone is involved --the Devil included-- when magic and miracle join at the cradle of Love.
