우성전(禹性傳, 1542-1593)이 1583년(선조 16) 6월부터 이듬해 8월까지의 정치기사를 일기체로 정리한 책이다. 표제는 『추연계갑록秋淵癸甲錄』으로 되어 있고, 『계갑록癸甲錄』으로 널리 알려져 있다. 조선 말기까지 간행되지 못하고 전사되어 오다가 1911년 고서간행회에 의해 초간되었다. 이 자료는 1939년 영주향교永州鄕校에서 간행한 4권 2책의 목판본이다. 내용은 권1은 1583년 6월-8월 29일, 권2 9월 1일-12월 30일, 권3 1584년 정월 1일-4월 29일, 권4 5월 1일-8월 30일로 이루어져 있다. 동인과 서인의 세력 분포와 정국 동향을 살필 수 있는 자료이다. 부록에는 유성룡柳成龍이 지은 곡시哭詩ㆍ묘갈명ㆍ시장諡狀ㆍ｢기문록記聞錄｣이 수록되어 있다. 유성룡ㆍ이익李瀷의 후서後序 및 박승진朴勝振ㆍ유동준柳東濬ㆍ우인덕禹寅悳의 발문이 있다.
