Gizli El'; Resat Nuri Guntekin'in, 'Cemil Nimet' takma adiyla, 'Dersaadet' gazetesinde (1920) tefrika edilen ilk romanlarindan biridir. Gizemli bir dunyanin dile getirildigi bu eserde, bir yazarin dus gucunun sozcuklerine nasil basariyla yansidigini gorebilirsiniz. Resat Nuri Guntekin 1889'da Istanbul'da dogdu. Ilkogrenimini Canakkale'de yapti. Canakkale Idadisi'nde, Mekteb-i Sultani'de (Galatasaray Lisesi) ve Izmir'de bir Fransiz okulunda okudu. 1912'de Edebiyat Fakultesi'ni bitirdi. 1916-1919 arasinda Istanbul'da Vefa ve Erenkoy liselerinde ogretmenlik yapti. 1931'e kadar cesitli liselerde Turkce, Fransizca, Edebiyat, Felsefe ve Pedagoji dersleri verdi. Ardindan Milli Egitim Bakanligi mufettisi oldu, 1939'a kadar Anadolu'yu dolasti. 1939-43 arasinda Canakkale milletvekili, 1950'de Paris'te Kultur Atasesi ve Turkiye'nin Unesco temsilcisiydi. 1954'te emekli oldu, Istanbul Sehir Tiyatrolari Edebi Kurul uyeligine secildi. 1956 Aralik'inda, tedavi icin gittigi Londra'da kanserden oldu.
